Assessment of Children

The Early Childhood Education Program believes that true assessment of a child's progress is done through daily observation. A single test does not give enough information on a child's rate of growth in all the developmental areas: motor, language, creativity, and socio-emotional. The daily assessment of children is used to develop a program that meets their individual needs for growth and achievement. This information is recorded on a developmental profile form (California Deparatment of Education's Desired Results Developmental Profile) for each child and is used to plan curriculum, communicate progress with parents, and to evaluate the program's effectiveness.
