 PROGRAM PHILOSOPHY

The Early Childhood Education Program has been created to provide an enriched environment for early age children, which benefits their intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development. Increasingly, research shows that quality preschool programs reduce the need for remedial classes in subsequent grade levels. During the preschool years, children develop characteristics which will affect their lifelong love of learning.

The Early Childhood Education Program has created an environment that has the children and their parents identified as the focus. The staff believes that each family brings to the program values, language, diversity, and traditional customs and therefore, recognizes the importance of forming a partnership with the parents to create a positive experience for all children. The program does not discriminate on the basis of sex, sexual orientation, gender, ethnic group identification, race, ancestry, national origin, religion, color, or mental or physical disability, in determining which children are served. We understand the requirement of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to make reasonable accommodations for such children. Religious instruction or worship is not practiced in our program. Parent participation in the classroom provides opportunities for parents to observe their child's behavior in a formal learning environment and supports the continued learning in the home.

GOALS OF THE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION PROGRAM

  • To identify and support the optimal development of each child.
  • To increase the parents' understanding and knowledge of child growth and development.
  • To increase the participation and involvement of the parents and the community.
  • To provide a wide range of developmentally appropriate experiences.
  • To develop each child's sense of self-worth.
  • To provide daily opportunities for development of good health.
  • To develop creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • To help children learn how to handle their own emotions and consider the feelings of others.
  • To integrate multicultural/ anti-biases into all areas of the curriculum.
  • To concentrate our efforts and resources toward student readiness and school success.
